On paper, my life looks more than comfortable. In 2016, I fantasized about having this life. What’s happening now ticks the boxes of “dream.”

  • I’m financially stable.
  • I have a job that challenges me in an industry that is “cool.”
  • I live in France.
  • I go to my French yoga studio 4 times a week.
  • I go to the beach almost every weekend.
  • I have invested in a self-wellness squad that I see and consult with regularly.
  • I’m not burdened by living above my means because the cost of living is so high. $400 a month health insurance. Where I live, without health insurance, I pay less than 60 USD to go to the doctor to get all the things checked and probed and tested.
  • I don’t drink alcohol.

Myself in 2016 didn’t know I could live this way. In 2016, I didn’t know that living the “dream life” on paper isn’t living the “dream life” in reality.

In reality, I’m have a very hard, and questionably long “season”.

  • My anxiety and depression have been a roller coaster for the last 18 months.
  • I don’t speak to a portion of my family who, at one time, were my security…
