The inevitable happened

No keys, no phone, no computer. Big problems. And I could have avoided it.

This happens to everyone on the planet: the inevitable happens. And, because it was inevitable, and you knew it was inevitable, that also means it likely was preventable. Recently, the inevitable happened to me. Here is an analysis of the events that led to my expected demise.

March 2021

I rent an apartment that has roughly 2000 keys on one ring. I am only aware of what to do with 4 of them.

April 2021

I carry the 45-pound sack of keys with me throughout Montpellier. Due to a state of depression, I rarely leave the house. The weight of the keys doesn’t pose to be too much of a problem.

May 2021

My depression begins to lift, and I move more frequently around Montpellier and go to Paris for the first time. The sack of keys becomes a burden.

June 2021

Upon joining a yoga studio, I decide that the sack of keys is too much of a burden to bear, separating them into two rings. One ring with all the keys that aren’t usable and my mailbox key. The other ring includes the 3 keys that I must use to access my door.
